Taking quality literature and foreign translations to a mass market audience for Harvill Press.
Harvill Press, led by Christopher Mcelhose, was known for quality literature and wanted to grow beyond its familiar academic audience. Publishing some of its most celebrated novels in paperback from a new imprint called Panthers, Harvill was able to secure shelf space in high street retailers.
We designed all aspects of the imprint's identity including the book design system which prioritised author portraits on the back covers to connect with readers. Hazel designed the first dozen covers and illustrated many of these. She was also responsible for the sales catalogue and in-store promotional materials for launch in Waterstones and WH Smith.
